In honor of National Nurses Week, we’re celebrating our colleague John Crane, RN, MSN, APRN, FNP-C. As a member of our Duchenne Nurse Educators team, John supports healthcare providers, patients and caregivers with education on Duchenne muscular dystrophy, the treatment process and Sarepta support programs. His journey to Sarepta included a 24-year run as a Navy nurse and multiple tours of duty across the globe. Throughout his nursing career, John has focused on educating other healthcare providers and maintaining his patients-first mindset. We’re excited to share John’s story in his own words. Our team had a great time at the HRLF (Human Resource Leadership Forum) Leadership Awards celebrating Sarepta’s Executive Vice President and Chief People Officer Alison Nasisi, who was recognized as a nominee. Alison's leadership continues to be instrumental in shaping our One Sarepta culture through a people strategy that connects total rewards, wellbeing and professional development to ensure our Sarepta team can thrive both personally and professionally. She puts the vision, mission and values of Sarepta at the heart of every decision and program that HR drives at Sarepta, and we are so glad she is being recognized by the broader community for the exceptional leadership we see every day!

It’s DNA Day! Today we mark the discovery of DNA’s double helix structure in 1953 and successful completion of the Human Genome Project in 2003. DNA research has transformed our understanding of human biology, health and disease. As a leader in precision genetic medicine, we’re constantly looking for new ways to tackle rare genetic diseases. For us, every day is DNA Day. #DNADay24

Attending World Orphan Drug Congress this week? Sarepta’s Kate Donigan, PhD, will be participating in a panel discussion on newborn screening and genetic sequencing. As leaders in precision genetic medicine, Sarepta is committed to reducing barriers to diagnosis and increasing patients’ opportunities for early treatment. There is currently a tremendous amount of activity around expanding newborn screening panels to include additional genetic diseases, and this should be a great discussion!
