About us

NRP utilizes a blended learning approach, which includes online testing and hands-on case-based simulation/debriefing that focus on critical leadership, communication, and team-work skills.

Calling all neonatal nurses! If you are attending the National Association of Neonatal Nurses (NANN) annual conference, please join NRP® for a preconference workshop on Tuesday, September 17, 2024. This 4.5 hour skills hands-on workshop has been specifically designed for NRP Providers working in all levels of neonatal care to practice and hone their NRP skills and critical emergency responses in a safe and encouraging setting. Employing “Iron-Sharpens-Iron” methodology, the creators of this course have designed an interactive rotation of skills stations for learners to complete as they network with other neonatal care professionals and learn from expert facilitators as well as from each other. We are highlighting the newest members of the NRP® Steering Committee. Cecilie Halling, MD, FAAP is an Assistant Professor/Neonatologist at The Ohio State University/Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, OH. Her research/publications within neonatal resuscitation include looking at endotracheal tube and IV epinephrine use during neonatal delivery room CPR. Through her role as the medical director for neonatal simulation at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Dr. Halling is very involved with neonatal resuscitation simulation education. She first learned NRP as a medical student in Dublin, Ireland in the early 2000s. She became an NRP instructor in 2015 during her neonatal fellowship in Dallas, TX. Dr Halling loves being a member of the NRP Steering Committee as she enjoys being part of a group that helps educate the nation on neonatal resuscitation, ultimately helping to improve outcomes for newborns and their families! We are so grateful for Beena Kamath-Rayne, MD, MPH, FAAP’s wise and passionate leadership of all Global Newborn and Child Health programs at American Academy of Pediatrics including the Neontal Resuscitation Program!
In today's #StaffSpotlight we're highlighting the leadership of our VP, Global Newborn & Child Health, Beena Kamath-Rayne, MD, MPH, FAAP! Beena describes how her career as a #neonatologist led her to the AAP's global program: "I am here at the AAP because of its mission to improve child health--we aim to improve the health of ALL children, EVERYWHERE. As a neonatologist, I see that the largest proportion of overall under-5-year deaths occur in the newborn population and that our progress in improving neonatal mortality has been slower than overall under-5 mortality. Most of the neonatal mortality worldwide occurs in places outside of the NICUs where we work in the U.S. I see that many of our members are passionate to make a difference about these statistics and looking for ways to get involved in improving them." #neonatology #globalhealth #pediatrics #globalchildhealth
