In 1974, President Gerald Ford authorized the first National Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week to celebrate the dedication of those who provide lifesaving services every day. Now, in 2024, we celebrate the 50th anniversary of this important week, honoring the heroes who have shaped the EMS profession and continue to make a difference in our communities! 🚑 As we reflect on the last 50 years, we acknowledge the incredible advancements made in emergency medical care. EMS providers have been at the forefront of it all, providing critical interventions that have saved countless lives. From the early days of basic first aid to the advanced techniques and technologies available today, EMS professionals have continuously improved their skills and knowledge to better serve their communities. These highly skilled professionals include Pre-Hospital Physicians, PHRNs, Paramedics, AEMTs, EMTs, and Wheelchair Van Drivers who assist in treating our patients before and after their time in our care. We also acknowledge our very own Reading Hospital School of Health Sciences where we educate future EMS professionals! As we celebrate this milestone anniversary, we recognize and remember the dedication and sacrifice of our EMS providers. These are the individuals who run toward danger when others are running away, who provide comfort and care in times of crisis, and who make a difference in the lives of those they serve. ⚕️ This week, take a moment to thank an EMS provider for their service. Let us honor the past, celebrate the present, and look forward to the future of EMS! 👏 #NationalEmergencyMedicalServicesWeek #EMSWeek

🌸 May is Asian and Pacific American Heritage Month! 🌏 We celebrate the rich culture, traditions, history, and achievements of Asian and Pacific Islander communities in the United States. This month evolved from Pacific/Asian American Heritage Week, first established in 1977 by former Capitol Hill staffer Jeanie Chew. May was chosen for two significant reasons: The first Japanese immigrants arrived in the U.S. on May 7, 1843, and the first transcontinental railroad, completed on May 10, 1869, was built with major contributions from Chinese immigrants. #AsianPacificAmericanHeritageMonth #CelebrateDiversity
