Duke University
Dr. Nazareth-Pidgeon is a pediatric hospitalist at Duke. She was originally from New York and moved to Boston for college and medical school, where she attended Boston College and Tufts Medical School and then Brown for residency after. After residency, she worked at Tufts as a pediatric hospitalist and fell in love with the combination of pediatric inpatient care and medical education. She served as a small group leader for their Problem-Based Learning course, which focused on taking medical students through clinical cases to prepare them for their clinical rotations. She helped to create and ran their Resident as a Teacher curriculum. After this, she moved south to North Carolina and worked at ECU as a hospitalist for a short time and concentrated her time on caring for their complex care patient population and the inpatient pediatric wards. After a year there, Dr. Nazareth-Pidgeon transitioned to Duke where she has continued her passion for inpatient medicine and education. She currently runs the Resident-as-a-Teacher rotation. In addition, she mentors the PHM fellow(s), chairs the fellowship Clinical Competency Committee, and serves on the Scholarship Oversight Committee. Her additional interests include QI, and she is working on various projects, e.g. penicillin allergy de-labeling in the inpatient setting, standardized treatment of Kawasaki Disease and co-chairs the Safe Sleep Committee at Duke.
