Sexual behaviors are common in early childhood. Most do not indicate abuse; some may reflect other psychosocial stressors. It is important to differentiate along this spectrum. In addition, normal sexual exploration and sexually reactive behaviors in pubertal patients provoke caregiver anxiety. Informed pediatricians play an important role reducing such worry.
